The Principal of Comfort by Kodiak possesses a Bachelor of Science in Building Construction and Certification as a Building Analyst Professional from the Building Performance Institute. Building industry experience began in 1985. Much of this experience, since 1993, has been gained through work in the high alpine environment of the Central Rocky Mountains, aka Climate Zone 7, America’s “very cold” climate, second only to the Subarctic / Arctic regions of northern Canada and Alaska. Specific building techniques must be afforded to this area. Comfort by Kodiak is uniquely qualified to provide you with building science consultation, incorporating safety, energy-efficiency, durability, and indoor air quality.
Remodeling and Home Performance with ENERGY STAR
The immense need to upgrade, update and improve the performance of our existing residential building stock is the focus of comfort by KODIAK. Such improvements begin with a Home Energy Audit and proceed through the life of the enclosure as constructed (the enclosure and mechanical systems). Remodeling projects present a terrific opportunity to upgrade a home as a system and increase durability and energy efficiency.
ENERGY STAR for New Homes
Many builders say they meet or exceed the requirements of ENERGY STAR but fail to have their work third-party verified. Kodiak recognizes the value of having our work tested, measured, and verified, and can assist any building effort in achieving this distinction. With ENERGY STAR for New Homes, performance measures are verified and homes receive a Home Energy Rating System (HERS) Index Score - a numeric score that provides homeowners with an objective measure of their home’s energy performance. The lower the score, the better the home. A Home Energy Rating is a great way to compare one home’s efficiency to another’s.
